About Us

After spending close to 20 years servicing the transformer industry, owner/founder Jim Curry realized a need for a transformer company which offers custom transformers at fair pricing while maintaining excellent quality and service.

Galaxy Transformer & Magnetics was formed in January of 1998 with the acquisition of Southeastern Transformer in Miramar, Florida. In 1999, Galaxy relocated the Southeastern Transformer facility to southern New Jersey. Within 2 years of consolidating these facilities, Galaxy continued to expand production by acquiring prints, customer lists, and a variety of equipment from Baltimore Transformer of Elkridge MD, Camden Transformer, and Magnum Transformer when they ceased transformer production.

With an expanding customer-base, demand rising, and the need for lower pricing, Galaxy Transformers sought the expansion of their capabilities through the partnership with Asia-based manufacturing facilities.  Through this new partnership, Galaxy was able to increase their production capabilities to include toroidal transformers and expand on their power transformers capabilities. Since Galaxy’s original partnership, they’ve continued to invest and expand their capabilities international with multiple facilities in which offer unique manufacturing capabilities to better serve all of their customer’s transformer needs. Galaxy’s overseas facilities include engineering and design capabilities as well high-volume production manufacturing with ISO approvals and UL recognized insulation systems.

In 2019, Galaxy Transformers relocated to a new, larger headquarters in Egg Harbor Twp., NJ with two times the office and manufacturing space to better serve their customers. The site was purchased with future expansion in mind, with approvals and plans in place for 100% additional capacity.

In late 2023, Galaxy Transformers acquired Custom Coil of Ohio. Previously owned/operated by Marty Vey. With Marty’s cooperation, Galaxy was able to provide a seamless transition for his customers and continue to provide the valued customer service Marty was able to offer for decades with expanded capabilities and resources to promote growth.

With market turmoil caused by tariffs and international conflict, Galaxy has become a beacon of stability for their customers due to the vast resources both domestically and internationally. With continued investments in equipment, materials, and valued employees domestically and aboard. Galaxy continues to offer multiple levels of solutions to move with global markets during times of crisis.

Now in business for over 25 years, sales continue to increase each year through the expansion of new products, industries and customers. From start ups to Fortune 500 companies, Galaxy Transformers is determined to contribute to their customer’s growth through the supply of low-cost, quality transformers.
